Shine On: Victoria from Becoming Who We Are

Who?

My name is Victoria, I’m 22, and I am fresh out of college. I have a degree in Art History with a concentration in philosophy; two subjects that are near and dear to me. I write bilingual copy by day, and my thoughts, anxieties, and motivational rants by night on my blog Becoming who we are.

What?

I would define Becoming Who We Are as a place where I reinforce myself with positive words and instructional advice on who to deal with what I am- someone that suffers from anxiety. Most importantly, I aim to reinforce, to myself and others, that loving and accepting yourself as you are is the key to success.

Becoming who we are is a title inspired by the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche, a philosopher that I truly admire. Becoming who we are, as I interpret it, evokes ideas of self-empowerment and a holistic approach to the self.

Where?

I am originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I moved to Miami, FL when I was about 11. After my high school graduation, I moved to Tampa, FL to attend USF. I still live in Tampa, where I now share a cozy apartment with my boyfriend Tyler.

When?

I’ve been gathering ideas for content for more than three, four years. It was part of my coping mechanism (against my moments of anxiety) to tell myself that someday I would be able to help someone out by sharing my experience. However, due to anxiety itself, I was not able to push myself to start this blog till’ about two months ago. I started Becoming who we are in spring of 2013.

Why?

My goal with this blog is to reach out to others with ideas, suggestions, experiences, thoughts, and information that simply provide insight and hopefully aid someone in a similar situation to mine, in becoming who they truly are.

Uniquely You:

Maybe this is not as unique as I think it is, but whenever I travel, I tend to avoid being in touristic places; the crowds drive me crazy. Also, I love Brazilian jazz, I have a weird obsession with Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and João Gilberto- oh, and Bill Evans (even though he is not a Brazilian artist!)
